An exciting opportunity has arisen for experienced registered nurses to come and join the team in the Waikato Emergency Department.
About the service:
The Waikato Emergency Department is the major regional referral and trauma centre for the Midland region. We see approximately 85,000 patients per year with a broad case-mix of presentations from paediatrics to geriatrics, medicine to trauma – there is no aspect of emergency medical care we do not provide.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Provide excellent nursing care to our patients and their Whanau working within a multidisciplinary team approach
Required skills & experience:
- A current annual practising certificate
- A current New Zealand work permit and Annual Practising Certificate
- A minimum of 2 years recent post registration experience in emergency or acute care nursing in a NZ DHB.
- Demonstrates commitment to customer focused service delivery.
- Demonstrates highly effective communication skills and team work.
The Waikato District Health Board (DHB) is one of the largest of 20 DHBs in New Zealand.
We plan, fund and provide health and disability support services to a population of more than 400,000. We run four hospitals across the district – a tertiary hospital in Hamilton, a secondary hospital in Thames, and three rural hospitals in Te Kuiti, Taumarunui, and Tokoroa.
Waikato Hospital in Hamilton is one of New Zealand’s largest tertiary, teaching hospitals with over 600 inpatient beds and 22 operating theatres. Clinical specialities include Women’s and Children Services, Cardiology / Cardiothoracic Surgery, Oncology and Haematology, Surgical services, and Mental Health and Addiction. Waikato Hospital is the Midland regional referral centre for multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.
