RADIATION ONCOLOGY CLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOW POSITION 2022-2023 at Te Pūriri o Te Ora (Cancer and Blood Services), Auckland City Hospital – AUC

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

The Cancer and Blood Service at Auckland City Hospital is a large, internationally recognised cancer centre delivering radiation oncology, medical oncology and haematology care. The radiation oncology service is working towards increasing research opportunities across the patient care pathway. In collaboration with the University of Auckland, Auckland City Hospital is recognised for its academic programme and is the largest teaching hospital in New Zealand.

The department has six linear accelerators, one orthovoltage unit, 2 CT simulators, HDR brachytherapy, ARIA electronic patient management system, Pinnacle and Raystation treatment planning systems as well as MIM Maestro software.

A full radiation treatment programme is provided including Paediatric Radiation Oncology, Brachytherapy and Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy. There is an active Registrar training Programme with eight Radiation Oncology Registrars.

The department is involved in clinical trials including from the Trans-Tasman Radiation Oncology Group (TROG) and the Medical Research Council (MRC) in the UK and is planning to actively expand clinical research involvement.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

The service commitment will be within the Urology tumour stream and include management of patients enrolled on a prostate cancer SBRT research protocol. The research commitment, within the upper gastro-intestinal tumour stream, will be focused on working within a multi-disciplinary environment towards the implementation of a liver SBRT research programme

  • Experience a training registrar in Radiation Oncology
  • Applicants should have met requirements for the RANZCR Fellowship in Radiation Oncology or an equivalent qualification
