About the role
The Regional Intellectual Disability Secure Service (RIDSS)
is looking for a clinical psychologist to work with youth and adult offenders
with an intellectual disability.
The RIDSS is an inpatient forensic rehabilitation service located
in Porirua, Wellington. The service s Model of Care is informed by the Good
Lives model of offender rehabilitation and draws on the strengths of clients
and all staff disciplines. Clinical psychologists play a central role in the
formulation of client needs and the design and delivery of treatment.
In this role you will be based with an experienced and
supportive team of clinical psychologists. Key features of the role include the
provision of psychological assessment and therapy and the facilitation of the
Stepping Stones emotion regulation group treatment programme. You will work
collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team and have
opportunities to undertake research and create rehabilitation and service
The successful applicant will be supported to engage in professional
development opportunities and receive individual supervision from an
experienced clinical psychologist. You will also be supported by the broader
MHAIDS and Te Korowai Whariki networks of clinical psychologists.
- Minimum of a Master's Degree in Psychology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
- Registration with NZ Psychologist Board, with Clinical Psychology as your Vocational Scope of Practice
- Current Annual Practising Certificate
- Full Drivers Licence

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB s and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa.
