What we are looking for
We are looking to fill a unique role offering the opportunity to facilitate and provide Kaupapa Māori models of care, Tikanga Māori cultural assessments and facilitate integrated cultural interventions to tangata whai i te ora on the Forensic Prison Service caseload.
About The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service
The Auckland Regional Forensic Psychiatry Service, or the Mason Clinic as it is often known, is the largest Forensic Mental Health Service in New Zealand. We serve the four Northern District Health Boards including all courts in the northern region and five prisons.
We deliver a comprehensive range of Forensic Mental Health Services, including secure inpatient acute and rehabilitation services which connect to community rehabilitation services, services for offenders with an intellectual disability, culture specific programmes for Māori, court liaison and prison mental health services. This includes a regional service to Northland Region Corrections Facility at Ngawha and Northland.

Our inpatient services consist of seven forensic mental health inpatient units and an intellectual disability unit that assess, treat and assist in the recovery of people with mental illness or intellectual disability who have committed a criminal offence or are at high risk in the community.
What you will need
Essential
- Knowledge and understanding of Māori social and health issues
- Strong communicator
- Full drivers licence
Desired
- Work experience in Mental Health organisations
- Tertiary Qualification of Māori and/or Mental Health Studies or similar
