The details: Permanent, 80 hours per fortnight (1 FTE)
We are seeking 3 (step 2 - 8 on the new Pharmacy Collective Agreement) pharmacists to take up a permanent positions based at Waikato Hospital. The position is aimed ideally for a registered pharmacist with 1 – 3 year’s hospital experience with a passion for clinical and ward pharmacy services. We will also consider candidates who are new to hospital pharmacy.
Initial key roles will include:
• Being part of a rotation and developing clinical skills predominantly in general medicine or surgical wards as well as some speciality areas like mental health/paediatrics later on
• Undertaking medication histories for anaesthetic assessment clinic
• Contributing to clinical team meetings and activities such as prescriber education, in-services, audits, journal club and MDTs.
• Involvement in pharmacy dispensary weekend services.
• Involvement in on-call service
• Involvement with onsite community pharmacy
• Rotations in different areas such as dispensary, cytotoxic aseptic unit and quality safe use of medicines will be offered as part of a general rotation
Applicants will have the ability to work independently on a ward with support from senior members of the team. Good time management and organisational skills are required to prioritise and undertake the various activities in which you will be involved. Some travelling to rural hospitals may be required.
If you are a New Zealand registered pharmacist with 1-3 years of experience and keen to learn new skills or build on existing skills then this role is for you.
