Microbiology-Triage/Primary Processing bench
Waitematā District Health Board is committed to providing best care for everyone with continuing excellence in healthcare across both North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital sites.
We are looking for an experienced medical laboratory technician or scientist to run the front end/primary processing area in Microbiology.
You will also be responsible for training staff in this area.
If you are a scientist or technician wanting to embrace a challenge and take on the responsibility of this role in our busy Microbiology Laboratory at North Shore Hospital we are keen to hear from you.
Ideal candidates will have:
At least five years of experience in a triage/primary processing environment, preferably in a hospital Microbiology Laboratory,
Experience in training staff,
The ability to take ownership of an area, including identifying and implementing ideas for improvement,
Some experience in PCR techniques
You will need to be pro-active and well organised and able to manage the demands of competing priorities in a busy hospital laboratory environment.
The applicant must have:
A current annual practising certificate and current registration with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council or eligibility to register with the Council.
Excellent communication skills.
High levels of self-motivation.
Well-developed time management skills
Excellent team working skills-ability to train and work with all grades of staff, including new graduates and staff from other disciplines
This is a full time position, however part time hours may be considered.
Hours of work are predominantly Monday to Friday 0800-1630, some evening shifts may be required at times.
