Women’s and Children’s Health Service is seeking an enthusiastic leader for the position of Manager of the Child and Family Programme, Waikato Hospital. This position is permanent and full time.
The substantial part of the role is to deliver the Violence Intervention Programme https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/preventative-health-wellness/family-violence to our staff. You will need to be a passionate educator and be wanting to organise and implement this programme from start to finish. You would be accountable for leading, managing and coordinating the operational aspects of the Violence Intervention Programme, which includes the delivery of most aspects of the Violence Intervention Programme including, but not limited to, training, audit and contributing to the Child Protection Alert Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings.
A smaller aspect of the role is to lead and manage the Child Protection Team, which includes two self-managing direct reports. The leadership aspect is a new addition to the VIP coordination role and is aimed to bring together the VIP, child and vulnerable unborn protection work streams into one management structure.
The ideal applicant will have:
• A keen aptitude for adult education
• An understanding of child abuse & neglect and intimate partner violence –ideally experience of the Ministry of Health’s Violence Intervention Programme
• Highly developed communications skills and proven ability to lead, influence and challenge
• Experience in a senior role
• Demonstrable experience in developing, negotiating and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders
• Enthusiasm for this mahi

Waikato Hospital is the Midland regional referral centre for multiple specialties including trauma surgery, oncology, and neurology.
