About the role:
Internal medicine is a business cluster that delivers care to inpatient general medical, respiratory and renal patients. A planned rotation of registered nurses throughout the cluster will occur, thus providing greater learning and clinical practice opportunity. Respiratory Nursing is an exciting opportunity to deliver care to patients who have chronic conditions such as COPD, ILD, asthma, bronchiectasis and cystic fibrosis. We manage any respiratory conditions affecting the lungs; this includes lung cancer and tuberculosis.
Working in respiratory also gives you the opportunity to develop very specialized nursing skills such as learning how to manage patients requiring NIV (non-invasive ventilation) - this includes BIPAP and AIRVO management. For nurses who have long term goals to work in ICU and HDU, working in respiratory for a couple of years is a stepping stone to develop some of these very critical skills that they can further develop in these speciality areas.
To be considered you must be an outstanding registered nurse with at least 2 years nursing experience, have strong clinical assessment skills, proven experience in caring for a range of general medical patients and be seen as a strong team player.
Applicants must have:
• Current APC and registration with Nursing Council of New Zealand

• Strong team player
• Good time management & ability to work autonomously.

• Professional on the job training
As well as having the opportunity to develop your nursing skills we are a very cohesive team on Ward A2 and teamwork is highly valued and supported. We also have an active social group with fun activities such as meals out, karaoke evenings and we usually enter teams in local walking and running community events. Come and join our amazing team of nurses!
