Counties Manukau Health has provided district wide suicide prevention coordination for a number of years supported by a strong Suicide Prevention Interagency Governance group, an excellent postvention network, and a Maaori Community Suicide Prevention kaitiaki roopu.
We are seeking an experienced registered health practitioner to fill this specialised and delicate position of Suicide prevention co-ordinator. Energetic, self-motivated and collaborative person will be required step up into this rewarding position and join us in our aim of:
- Reducing the rate of suicide and suicidal behaviour
- Reducing the harmful effect and impact associated with suicide and suicidal behaviour on families/whaanau, friends and the wider community
- Reducing inequities in suicide and suicidal behaviour
- Building resiliency in key target groups.
Reporting directly to the Service Manager District Wide for Mental Health and Addictions this position has key linkages to the CMH Maori Health team and Population Health team. This role will see you engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, developing strong relationships and working collaboratively across services and systems to enhance and promote suicide prevention in Counties Manukau. Your strong co-ordination and relationship skills will see you navigate the implementation of the Counties Manukau Suicide Prevention and Postvention Plan.
Knowledge and experience of working in partnership with Maaori whanau, hapu, iwi and Maaori communities is essential. You will provide oversight, and co-ordination of postvention activities and initiatives. This is a full time, Monday to Friday position based at Lambie Drive Manukau
