The Department of Cardiology at Middlemore Hospital invites applications for a full-time general adult cardiologist. The role can be tailored to a suitable applicant. Applications are particularly sought from cardiologists with specialist interest in heart failure, cardiac inherited diseases and cardiac imaging particularly computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. The role will require expertise in general cardiology inpatient and outpatient management.
Middlemore Hospital is an accredited, 800-bed,
teaching hospital of Auckland University and it is the main acute medicine
centre for the region of over 550,000 people. Our Department of Cardiology runs
an 18 bed CCU/SDU and a Cardiology Ward. We offer a large volume outpatient
service, an on-site cardiac investigation unit (echocardiography, exercise and
tilt-table testing, Holter and event monitoring), a cardiac interventional
suite with a second lab due to open July 2022, and on-site CT coronary
angiography (acute and elective service) and cardiac MRI services. Cardiac
surgical and invasive electrophysiology services are also provided off-site at
Auckland City Hospital.
Our Cardiology Service provides high quality under-graduate and post-graduate teaching. There is an active research program in place spanning clinical trials and local research with the department at the forefront of the ANZACS-QI programme. There are currently 16 Cardiologists in the department including several national leaders, with extensive growth plans over the next two years.
A position is available immediately for a suitably experienced cardiologist. You will work within a team including six other imaging cardiologists and two heart failure experts. The successful applicant would also have responsibilities for the acute general cardiology care on the cardiology ward and in the out of hours Cardiology roster (approximately 1:5 call including weekend ward rounds). There will also be contribution to the provision of outpatient clinics.

Salary and conditions of service will be in accordance with the New Zealand ASMS Award Agreement.

registered with the New Zealand Medical Council.
