We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our busy Facilities Management team, on a full time basis. You will be responsible for the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s waste management and minimisation functions, including recycling systems, hazardous substances disposal and the safe storage of compressed medical gases.
You will lead waste and recycling management practices for Hawke’s Bay DHB including development, implementation and improvement to systems, processes and activities.
You will be required to:
- Create, implement and maintain policies, procedures and safe systems of work relating to waste and recycling
- Create and maintain webpage content, guidance and education materials for staff, and other waste-related publications
- Design and deliver staff training to increase compliance and drive behaviour change
- Manage waste provider contracts
You will have gained a tertiary qualification or extensive knowledge and have two or more years professional experience working in environmental management, waste management, sustainability, project management, education or related disciplines.
You will have the flexibility to manage and assist on a range of tasks or projects and will be able to communicate effectively with people of all levels both internal and external to Hawke’s Bay DHB. The ability to work effectively and efficiently without direct supervision, managing and organising workloads and those of others is essential.
Great communication, public speaking and presentation skills are necessary as you will be a key advocate for waste and recycling, influencing and/or supporting others to achieve positive outcomes. High levels of motivation, excellent time management skills, a positive attitude to life and good sense of humour, all with a customer focus, are a must.
Knowledge, skills and experience in the health sector or behaviour change will be an advantage.
