We are currently looking for an experienced Psychologist to join our team At Te Whare Ahuru. If enjoy a challenge, meeting a wide variety of patients and working within a close knit team this is the place for you.
Duties on the ward include working closely within the Multi Disciplinary Team (MDT) providing clinical advice and strategies for the management and treatment of patients on the ward. Diagnostic clarification and supporting the discharge planning for complex cases. Facilitation of or oversight of patient group activities on the ward that would benefit from psychology input e.g. DBT.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
Te Whare Ahuru provides services for people experiencing an episode of acute mental illness that requires a safe environment with intensive nursing and medical treatment.
The team offers specialist services for people with moderate to severe mental health problems, and offer assessment, treatment and support to assist the individual and their whanau and other support people in their recovery journey with the aim of supporting people back to having their health care provided in primary health care services. The focus of the service is on providing evidenced based treatment interventions for those people who present with more complex needs and higher risks.
Moū - About you
You-ll have a sound knowledge of psychopathology, and psychological theories with an ability to assess, diagnose and treat people experiencing coexisting mental health and addiction. Your experience in developing sound psychological formulations based on thorough assessments will allow you to provide interventions for clients with trauma and advise, consult and educate the client and relevant others about treatment options.
You-ll hold a Masters Degree in Psychology and Post graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology or equivalent along with registration with the NZ Psychologist Board, with Clinical Psychology as Vocational Scope of Practice and a current APC.
