Waitemata District Health Board (WDHB) Mental Health Services Group is the largest provider of Mental Health Services in New Zealand, serving a catchment population of approximately 550,000 people in the north and west of Auckland. We have a comprehensive range of Mental Health Services, and have developed culturally aware and responsive mainstream services.
Whitiki Maurea is our Maori Mental Health and Addictions Services. Whītiki Maurea is committed to delivering holistic services to Tangata whai i Te ora. This is accomplished by weaving together Māori cultural values and Western clinical practice, thereby ensuring Tangata whai i Te ora and their whānau are supported to achieve the best possible health outcomes.
Whītiki Maurea has three distinct services which work in unison to support Tangata whai i Te ora and their whānau to achieve the best possible health outcomes. These services are described below:
- Te Ātea Marino - a Māori kaupapa based addiction service that supports the recovery of people aged 13 years and over who live in any of the Metro-Auckland DHBs.
- Moko Services – provides Māori kaupapa based specialist mental health services working towards recovery for adults aged 18 to 65 years of age and residing in the Waitematā DHB area.
- Te Pae Ahurea - provide the specialist Māori cultural elements that stem from a Māori worldview that makes Whītiki Maurea a distinctive Service within the Specialist Mental Health and Addictions Service.
We operate a clinical governance model and there are opportunities to be involved in service development, service planning and quality improvement initiatives.
Teaching and supervision of junior doctors/students and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team are core functions for our Consultants.
Working four days a week, you will be committed to providing a high standard of care, enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team and have a proven ability to form good relationships with staff, Tangata Whaiora and their Whanau.
