Ko tā mātou mahi - Our Role
Be part of exciting growth within Consentium, the Kāinga Ora Building Consent Authority (BCA) which provides consenting services exclusively to Kāinga Ora. The team takes great pride in receiving the Innovator of the Year Award at the recent Building Officials Institute of NZ Excellence Awards.
We have ambitious goals and with our own accredited BCA we can focus on providing homes at pace, leveraging scale and quality. We target residential and commercial state house builds as well as a comprehensive nationwide retrofit programme with an efficient, paperless, and compliant process.
Reporting to the Building Inspections Team Leader, you will work autonomously to deliver quality, consistent and compliant inspections across the region. Each day you'll manage your allocated workload through coordinating with your team mates, contractors on site, and other internal and external stakeholders. You'll provide guidance to others and process Codes of Compliance and compliance schedules. Your practical and positive approach, combined with relationship management and technical expertise, will support a high performing inspections environment where quality is the continued focus.
Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu - What you will bring
Along with sound judgement and decision making skills, a collaborative approach and outcomes focus, you must also demonstrate:
- 4 - 5 years of experience in building inspections in a construction management or building regulatory role, or equivalent industry experience
- A relevant building and or design qualification satisfying the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulation 18 requirements
- A minimum existing Technical Competency of R1-C1 Inspections assessed using the National Competency Assessment System or equivalent
- Strong and proven commitment to relationship building and working in partnership with key internal stakeholders, the building sector, and other external stakeholders including Iwi
