Mō tō mātou rōpū About our team
The AWHI Early Supported Discharge Team is the newest addition to our ORA community service, providing specialist support to patients who have had a hospital admission and require a re-ablement or rehabilitative approach including:
- People who have had a stroke
- People who have had an acute medical admission
- People who have had an acute orthopaedic admission
This is a developing service and is already demonstrating its effectiveness in improving patient flow and clinical outcomes for our people.
This role is one of 12 Allied Health Team Leader roles within the ORA (Older Adults, Rehabilitation and Allied Health) service, so there is a wealth of collegial support available to you.
Kōrero mō te tūranga About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys clinical and operational leadership and wants to lead a developing multidiscliplinary community Allied Health and Nursing team.
This role provides day to day leadership and management of a team of 24 FTE who work in the community setting across the Wellington region, delivering care from Seatoun through to Kāpiti.
It also provides clinical direction and modelling for the team, with a particular focus on Inter-Professional practice and measuring clinical outcomes.
This role works alongside the Professional Leaders across Allied Health and Nursing professions in many situations, including workforce development and service improvements.
This role is fulltime with a clinical component attached to it, so a current APC is essential.

You will be someone who is keen to grow your leadership potential through managing a multidisciplinary team. You will also be passionate about supporting patient flow through early intervention, the community setting of care, inter-professional practice and challenging the status quo to improve equity of outcomes for our clients. With the upcoming move to Health NZ and the move towards a localities approach to primary and community care, this will be an exciting time to be part of the team!
