Working under the direct supervision of a registered occupational therapist, you will be involved in assisting the occupational therapy team to provide assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation to inpatients at Middlemore Hospital or at the Manukau Surgical Centre. Providing a follow up service to people after discharge from hospital may also be a part of this stimulating role.
Middlemore Hospital Acute Allied Health team offers a supportive environment and encourages personal and career development. In this role you will receive supervision and training to enable you to develop a comprehensive set of skills to facilitate occupational engagement for clients with medical, surgical and orthopaedic functional challenges.
Previous experience in a health care setting would be an advantage.
Although contact with children 17 and under is sporadic, this role is considered a core children’s worker and will be subject to safety checking as part of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
• An understanding of rehabilitation, illness, and disability
• Good written and verbal communication, and customer service skills
• Computer literate (Intermediate level) Microsoft office, Outlook
• Great time management skills
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Full and clean driving licence
• Health Care Assistant Level 4 qualification or similar.
• Previous experience in health care sector
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
