He Puna Waiora meaning "a pool of wellness" is a soon-to-be 39 bed Adult Acute Inpatient Unit designed to provide a high level of flexibility in the use of acute beds. There are a number of sensory & comfort rooms with multiple lounges, relaxation and programme spaces for service users.
As an experienced Registered Nurse, your sound clinical background and leadership skills will assist you in the day-to-day co-ordination of clinical care and line management responsibilities of our multidisciplinary team.
You will require a high level of clinical skill, demonstrate a proactive approach toward seclusion elimination and restraint reduction, enjoy being actively involved in service improvement and have a sense of humour. Your dynamic and innovative approach will assist you to develop a rapport with staff, service users, families/Whanau and other Community Mental Health Services.
Effective & therapeutic communication skills are essential and an understanding of sensory modulation would be an advantage.
We’d expect you to have a Post Graduate certificate/diploma in Mental Health nursing, including papers in Leadership, a minimum of 5 years post registration nursing practice in Mental Health nursing and a current, proficient/expert level portfolio.
