Our Youth Forensic Service aims to improve health outcomes for Maaori, Pacifica and all services users within our community. We are looking for energetic, forward thinking Taurawhiri to provide specialist care for tangata whaiora and whaanau by ensuring their cultural needs are met during the journey through mental health and addiction services.

The role includes cultural assessment and treatment, advice and education for staff, service users and whanau and relevant cultural rituals such as powhiri and whakatau. Culturally, you will be responsible to the Kaikookiri; Lead Cultural Advisor and operationally to the Team Manager.

Excellent communication skills in Te Reo and English in both oral and written form, is essential. Strong networks in the Maaori community, confident use of IT systems, problem solving and conflict resolution, education expertise, experience working with complex Maaori whaanau and knowledge of Maaori Health and/or Maaori Mental Health are desirable skills.

 

Previous experience of having worked with government or non-government agencies such as Youth Justice, Oranga Tamariki or within the court system would be advantageous.
