Applications are invited for Senior House Officer attachment in rural hospital medicine. 

This is an accredited training position for the Division of Rural Hospital Medicine. We highly encourage applications from our Māori communities.

Candidates who have completed at least one year post graduate hospital and who have an interest in rural medicine will be considered. We provide an excellent generalist training environment with a broad and interesting case mix. Clinical supervision is provided by rural medicine specialists, geriatricians, emergency medicine specialists and general physicians, and there are opportunities for career planning and development. Thames hospital is a 50 bed rural hospital with a busy emergency department.

Thames is a coastal town known as the gateway to the Coromandel peninsula. There is easy access to native bush with world class walks and tramps and surf beaches in this popular recreational area.
