Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland are looking for a part time Registered Nurse (0.8FTE) to work in our Altered High Youth Service based in Kingsland.

CADS are the largest Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service in New Zealand working with over 15,000 people each year. CADS provide free community and inpatient AOD treatment from a number of locations across Auckland and are committed to empowering the community to reduce the harm associated with substance use and promote recovery and wellbeing.

The CADS Altered High Youth Service is a vibrant and innovative service for young people from the age of 13 to 20 years who present in relation to their own, or someone else's alcohol and other drug issues. We are a mobile regional community team, based in Kingsland. We provide a service that strives to maintain and improve standards of clinical practice and supports the growth and development of staff.

We are currently looking for a nurse, preferably with AOD and Youth experience, who has initiative and is highly motivated to work full-time with young people and their whanau and networks.

Applicants will be able to demonstrate a willingness and commitment to working in partnership with Maori and Pacific Island youth services and with a range of services and sectors such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health services, Oranga Tamariki, Non-Government Organisations, Education and Justice.

Essential

• Relevant three year tertiary qualification and professional registration.
• Relevant knowledge of working with rangatahi and their families/whānau.
• Knowledge of the concepts of the harm reduction model, and willingness to work within this framework.
• Proven skills in clinical assessment, treatment planning and goal setting.
• The ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective networks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work
• Drivers licence
• Legal right to work in NZ

Preferred

• Experience of working with rangatahi and their families/whānau.
• Experience and/or training in the alcohol and other drug field.
• Relevant postgraduate health or education related tertiary qualification
• Experience in group facilitation
