CADS Opioid Treatment Key Worker at Waitemata District Health Board (North & West Auckland), Auckland

Community Alcohol and Drug Services (CADS) Auckland are looking for a full time Key Worker to work in our AOTS service based in Pt Chevalier to work in a clinic-based setting, working Monday to Friday business hours.

There is nothing traditional or ordinary about this job. Go home at the end of the day knowing you played a very important part in the recovery of service users and feel the satisfaction of doing something that really counts.

CADS are the largest Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) service in New Zealand working with over 15000 people each year. CADS provide free community and inpatient AOD treatment from a number of locations across Auckland. CADS are committed to empowering the community to discover healthier use of substances (harm minimisation) and to promote recovery and wellbeing. 

AOTS provides services for the management of opioid dependency from a harm reduction philosophy, supporting people towards recovery from opioids and other drugs and supporting people in their communities. The treatment programme is characterised by comprehensive assessment, individual recovery planning, and a long-term treatment approach where required. 

We offer a role that is challenging and rewarding that supports professional development with a comprehensive orientation process.

Using your empathic approach, with excellent written, communication and time management skills you will carry a caseload of clients receiving opioid substitution treatment (OST) in the community and in GP Shared Care. 

You will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of like-minded health professionals who embrace diversity and share a commitment to working with clients in partnership to achieve their goals

Essential

A sense of social justice and enjoying working with people in all their complexity is required. You will have a non-judgemental attitude, excellent engagement and communication skills, and an ability to work autonomously within a team. You will also have:

  • Full registration with professional body (dapaanz , nursing, social work, counselling, psychology, occupational therapy or related fields)
  • Full, clean drivers licence
  • Legal right to work in NZ
  • Ability to implement Te Tiriti O Waitangi in your daily work

Preferred

  • Clinical experience in mental health, alcohol/drug, social work or related field, preferably as a key worker
  • Post graduate qualification in alcohol and drug work or related fields
