Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Services (MHAIDS) understands that for many people coping with their illness or disability is not easy at the best of times.  In recognising the importance of supporting people to seek help and to recover we provide a range of services that help people to live a fulfilled life. 

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are actively recruiting nurses, who have completed their Bachelor of Nursing, to join our dedicated teams supporting people across our region.

This New Entry to Specialist Practice (NESP) programme will give you the opportunity to follow various pathways with in mental health, addiction and intellectual disability nursing. Working with us you will have good opportunities for professional development and career progression.

Whether you are a new graduate nurse or a nurse looking to change your speciality - we would love to hear from you. 

Moū - About you

As a RN NESP, you will be offered a 72 hour a fortnight permanent contract and paid study leave to complete the academic requirements of the programme. You will be offered two rotations within our services which may include adult, youth, older adult, forensic, community, early intervention, intellectual disabilities, Māori mental health or Health Pasifika.

We partner with Whitireia New Zealand to offer a comprehensive introduction to Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Nursing which enables you to complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Nursing (Mental Health) or a Postgraduate Certificate in Speciality Care by the end of the Programme.
