Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

  • Permanent full time (40 hours per week) position
  • Be a key part in the recovery journey of our Service Users / Tangata Whai ora
  • Use your skills and knowledge to improve health outcomes

We are looking for Allied Health Professionals (Social Workers and Occupational Therapists) to join the Assertive Community Outreach Service (ACOS) team, an intensive Community Mental Health Team in the High and Complex Needs Services.

Our multi-disciplinary team work with people who need support to engage with mental health services and present with high risks associated with their mental health. We aim to provide flexible, collaborative and responsive treatment and support to our Service Users/Tangata Whai ora. We are a mobile team based in Point Chevalier, Auckland that covers all of the Auckland District Health Board area. 

We provide comprehensive mental health support with a focus on whanau/family involvement. You will apply your mental health knowledge and skills to undertake thorough assessments, including risk management and provide appropriate and collaborative treatment and support using a case management approach. 

This is a permanent, full time role working 10 days per fortnight on a Monday to Sunday roster. You will be working one or two weekend days per month, as agreed.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills

You will be a Mental Health Professional, either a Social Worker or an Occupational Therapist registered with a New Zealand professional board with a current Practicing Certificate or eligible for the same. It is desirable that you have at least two years’ experience or more working in mental health settings, ideally with community experience.

As an ideal candidate for this role, you will demonstrate initiative, enjoy teamwork and have a good knowledge of community resources.

As this role is community based, a full and clean driver license is essential for this role.
