National Women's Health provides high-quality health services for women who need maternity, newborn, gynaecology and reproductive health care.
An exceptional, permanent, full-time leadership opportunity has arisen to become part of the Women’s Health Social Work team as a Practice Supervisor. This team provides social work services to National Women’s Health and the Starship Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Auckland DHB. As the successful applicant you will be joining an experienced established Practice Supervisor and leading the team in partnership together:
- Provide day to day leadership to the Women’s Health Social Workers including clinical oversight, professional supervision and operational management
- Manage clinical governance responsibilities and support professional development and on-going continuous improvement within the team to ensure a high quality service
- Reporting to the Social Work Clinical Lead, this key role will see you working closely with Allied Health leadership to support the overall development of the social work service
- Develop your skills in clinical leadership, motivating and guiding staff development, and building sustainable health services which promote equitable outcomes for all

This is the perfect opportunity for a motivated clinician looking to enhance their skills and advance their career. We welcome your passion for helping to create a safe space for tangata whenua and tauiwi within the women’s health context. As the ideal candidate for this role, you have the following skills and attributes:
- Evidence of current registration with the New Zealand Social Workers’ Registration Board and a current Annual Practicing Certificate with scope of practice endorsement
- Current New Zealand Drivers License
- 5+ years proven experience or a strong interest in supervision, health social work, grief and loss, child protection and family violence intervention with a passion for effective social work leadership
- Background in Women’s Health Social Work would be an advantage
- Willingness to work in the area of reproductive health which includes providing decision making counselling around continuation of pregnancy and fertility services
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to social work practice and health care provision in Aotearoa New Zealand
