An exciting opportunity has arisen in Te Whatu Ora Lakes for passionate Registered Nurses wanting to work in acute inpatient mental health to join the team at Whare Whakaue based at Rotorua Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity as we continue to embed our new model of care Te Ara Tauwhirotanga: pathways that lead us to act with kindness.  Te Ara Tauwhirotanga is the product of extensive co-design with over 400 participants from the Lakes community.  Te Ara Tauwhirotanga model of care acknowledges that health, wellbeing and opportunities for healing and recovery are a basic human right and that this can only occur when local, regional and national systems work well together.   The model aligns to He Ara Oranga and is designed around three central Pou (pillars) of Tikanga (Values), Tangata (People) and Taiao (Environment).

Mō te tūranga / About the role

As a Registered Nurse you will:

•    demonstrate safe, quality nursing practice that is evidence based and reflects best practice 
•    have ability to assess, formulate and plan nursing nursing care in an acute inpatient mental health care setting
•    have ability to engage in contemporary practice with an equity focus in order to achieve improved outcomes for Māori accessing care 
•    have excellent interpersonal skills with a strong client focus, flexible approach and ability to remain calm under pressure. 

You must be a New Zealand Registered Nurse eligible to work in Mental Health and have a current APC. Post graduate experience in an acute mental health setting is desirable, however consideration will be given to applicants with no experience, but would like to begin a career in mental health nursing.

Prefer a swim at the beach or perhaps skiing or snow boarding? No problem - all of these activities are 1-2hrs from Rotorua.

To be eligible to work at Lakes DHB you must be fully vaccinated.

Salary range: $66,570 - $95,340 pro rated to hours worked
