Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

Perioperative Care Unit, Manukau Surgery Centre

 Rostered shifts

Manukau Surgery Centre (MSC) is a purpose built facility  that provides the majority of CMDHB's elective surgery.  The Manukau theatres run a busy schedule Monday to Friday with the two inpatient wards providing seven day a week surgical care,  with the more complex or ‘at risk’  patients supported by a 4 bedded high dependency Perioperative Care Unit (PCU) is a unique unit embedded within the 2nd floor of the Manukau Surgery Centre.

PCU provides high level clinical support for the physiologically unstable patient during their post -operative stay. Dedicated anaesthetic and nursing teams provide 24/6 support for the unit accepting patients from all specialties undergoing elective surgery at MSC.

PCU plays a critical role in the support of major elective surgery at the Manukau Surgery Centre site and supports all patients at Manukau Surgery Centre, predominantly General Surgical, Orthopaedic, Plastic and Hand, Gynaecology and ORL specialities.

We have opportunities for you to join a small team of experienced nurses providing high quality acute, high dependency care to a diverse range of patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. This is your chance to bring your outstanding clinical and communication skills to a role that you have been striving for.  Working in the PCU also allows suitably experienced nurses to further develop their acute care and high dependency unit skills in an extremely supportive environment.

Nurses with a recent surgical or other relevant clinical experience are preferred.
