Lead Diversional Therapist at Canterbury District Health Board (Christchurch), Ashburton

The Team: What we do

Tuarangi Home is a 37 bed Residential Care facility that provides hospital level and dementia care at both rest home and hospital levels. We are a skilled and dedicated workforce, working within the dementia and hospital units to provide quality care in a friendly environment. We believe that dignity of all individuals is paramount, and at Tuarangi we diligently maintain an atmosphere of empathy, non-judgemental and respectful care.

We have a fixed term full-time positions available, 40 hours per week until January 2023.This term may be extended pending funding.

The Role: Where you fit in

As the lead diversional therapist you will be responsible for leading and supervising DT teams and daily DT activities for our residents. 

You will be expected to supervise and assist in providing a personalised quality Activity Service for patients by planning, facilitating, leading and supporting members in diversional activities, e.g. craft work, games, social interaction within groups.

You-ll be working alongside a registered Occupational therapist, Physiotherapist or Charge Nurse Manager.

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge, and skills;

  • Diversional therapist with current membership of NZ Society of Diversional & Recreational Therapy.
  • Previous experience of leading a team.
  • Experience older persons health including Dementia.

Desirable;

  • A current drivers licence
