We are seeking a Dermatologist for the Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay who shares our values of He kauanuanu – Respect, Ākina – Improvement, Rāranga te tira – Teamwork and Tauwhiro – Care. This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist, who is committed to the further development of dermatology and skin lesion services across the Hawke's Bay health sector.
The position is based at ,Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay with 0.8 FTE and there are opportunities to increase hours in private practice locally.
As a Specialist Physician in Dermatology you will work with the other Dermatologist, Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist and Dermatology Nurses in the Whanau & Communities Group. You will provide clinical services that include outpatient, community assessment and management of people requiring specialist dermatology care, and community-based support services. Clinics are provided in Hastings, Napier, Wairoa and Waipukurau. Strong clinical liaison with other surgical specialist such as General Surgery, ENT and Ophthalmology and non-surgical departments such as Paediatrics and the full range of medical specialties will be maintained.
Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay is situated in Hastings. It is a large secondary level, 400 bed accredited public facility providing acute and elective care for a region of over 162,000 people. The hospital is continuously improving facilities. It provides a full range of adult and paediatric clinical and support services expected in a district general hospital. Te Matau a Māui, Hawke’s Bay has extensive clinical teaching commitments in partnership with Wellington Medical School, University of Otago and the local Eastern Institute of Technology. The Dermatologists also participate in the postgraduate teaching programe including Grand Rounds, Journal Club, Registrar and House Officer teaching.

A suitable candidate would be proficient in the full range of medical dermatology, including some paediatric dermatology, patch-testing, photo-dermatology, teledermatology, simple cutanous surgery and management of skin cancer. They would be enthusiastic about empowering the patient, their whenay and healthcare providers to look after their skin in health and disease, liaising with primary and other secondary care services to provide equitable access and patient-centrered care.

Applicants must be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist and hold appropriate specialist qualifications in Dermatology, such as being a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, or equivalent.
