Senior Communications Advisor, Part time - 0.5 FTE at Waitemata District Health Board (North & West Auckland), Auckland

COMMUNICATIONS ADVISOR – WDHB NATIONAL BOWEL SCREENING PROGRAMME

We wish to appoint an experienced, highly motivated communications practitioner to the position of senior communications advisor within the Waitemata DHB National Bowel Screening Programme team. The position requires:

  • Tertiary qualification in journalism, public relations, communications or a related discipline
  • Minimum of five years experience at a middle to senior level
  • Strong communications, relationship management and presentation skills – written and oral
  • Knowledge and experience in working with community oriented and social services organisations
  • Sensitivity to cultural complexity in the workforce and the eligible screening population
  • Cultural competence in relation to Maori and Pacific populations
  • Competence in media management
  • Experience in website development and maintenance

This role requires a willingness to work closely with a wide range of health and community service providers in the design, implementation and evaluation of strategies to promote the bowel screening programme. The NBSP is committed to achieving equity of participation for eligible Maori and Pacific populations and expects all staff to demonstrate commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

The position is available on a part-time basis (0.5 fte) and the days and hours of work are negotiable.
