Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
The Health Care Assistant-s position supports the acute flow and supported discharge of patients discharging from the hospital into the Kapiti community setting. The Health Care Assistant position works in the community setting with patients receiving personal care such as (showering) and Home Help (housework) helping with medication prompting and assists the District Nurse-s with wound dressing.
Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team
Community Health Service Kenepuru has a 30 hour per week Health Care Assistant (HCA), permanent position available. The shifts are 6 hour per day, rostered and rotating, morning shift 8am to 14.30pm, evening shifts from 4pm to 10pm when required.
This HCA position works autonomously in the community setting providing care to clients in their own homes. Community Health Services provides assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and support services to individuals and families. We offer an orientation programme and on-going education to HCA-s.
The HCA-s provide assistance with activities of daily living such as personal care and household tasks for clients who are temporarily incapacitated through illness or post-surgery. A close relationship is maintained with the professional nursing staff (District Nurses) working in the area for on-going assessment and advice in delivery of personal care.
Moū - About you
You are required to have:
- Completed level three NZQA qualifications in Community Support Service (or its equivalent).
- Current driver-s licence and reliable transport
- Good keyboard skills
- Good communication skills
- The ability to be flexible and work autonomously
