At Counties Manukau, Clinical Psychologists work as part of multi-disciplinary teams to provide psychological assessments and interventions for service users. Clinical Psychologists provide a range of services to support the development and function of their teams and the organisation as a whole. These activities include, but are not limited to: case consultation, staff training, supervision, leadership, involvement in service development activities, and research and evaluation-related activities.

We have full time/part time, permanent vacancies in different services across Counties Manukau Health.

Matariki:

The Otara/Mangere locality service provides a range of high quality, integrated and comprehensive mental health assessments, treatment interventions and support for adults experiencing mental health and co-existing drug and alcohol issues who reside in the Otara, Mangere, Papatoetoe and Otahuhu areas.

The diversity of our community and the range of mental health needs it presents, facilitates a stimulating and challenging environment for our clinicians. The role works with a multi-disciplinary team and some of the duties include psychological assessments, individual therapy, brief episode of care interventions and group work.

We work closely with our service users, Non-Government Organisation’s and their Primary care providers. We can offer you a chance to work both independently and as part of a strong quality-focussed team. You will also be provided with ongoing support with clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.

Regional Dual Disability Service - Full Time and Part Time 0.5FTE available:

Are you passionate about working with people with an intellectual disability and/or autism and their families/whanau and liaising with professionals and organisations?

RDDS is a regional specialist team, covering the four northern region DHBs. We offer a service of assessment, intervention, and consultation for adult clients with both a psychiatric disorder and intellectual disability. Our service users commonly have complex needs. The role of a clinical psychologist may include formal assessments of intellectual disability and ASD, talking therapy, systems approaches, behavioural management as well as teaching and consultation.

We currently have 6 clinicians including a consultant psychologist. The team has undergone a regional review, resulting in a commitment to expansion. This is an exciting time to be a part of this team and contribute to its development and growth. The team is currently based in Manukau.

Koropiko:

Are you passionate about working with older people who are affected by mental illness and/or dementia? We are dedicated to providing a comprehensive, integrated and progressive service to older people and their whanau.

The Mental Health Services for Older People at Counties Manukau is a multi-disciplinary team for those over 65 years of age, or younger if they have age related concerns. The service has an inpatient ward; however, this post is with Community Team East and will mainly be in the community. The team is based at Middlemore Hospital with access to satellite sites.

You will be working alongside another experienced psychologist and have the opportunity to work with psychology interns in a supportive environment that values your skills and profession. The role of a psychologist may include formal assessments, talking therapy, systems approaches as well as teaching and consultation.

Infant Mental Health:

Whakatupu Ora Infant Mental Health team is a multi-disciplinary specialist service team providing assessment and therapy for children (0 to 4 years) and their caregivers to improve mental health outcomes for children.

We are based at Springs Road site in East Tamaki and the team provides clinic and community-based services for families in the Counties Manukau area.

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be engaged in core clinical activities such as psychological assessment, mental health assessment, assessment of caregiver-child relationships and provide evidence–based interventions. You will have a focus on early intervention, experience in working with family/whanau and excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with a wide range of services and professionals on intervention plans.

Rapua Te Ao Waiora:

Are you interested in working with pakeke/adults and their whaanau – making a difference in their lives and future wellbeing?

Our integrated care services provide specialist mental health care for those with serious mental health and addiction problems living across Papakura and Manurewa. We work closely with pakeke/adults and their whaanau, Non-Government Organisation’s and their Primary Care providers – GP Practices and Marae. You will also be provided with on-going support with clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.

Tiaho Mai:

Tiaho Mai is the newest inpatient mental health unit in the country. This will support our service users and their family/whaanau, who require an inpatient stay for the treatment of mental health issues. This inpatient unit is the first of its kind in New Zealand and was designed in order to be equipped to assist us to provide better care for our community. The new building maximizes natural light and has safe inner garden courtyards and therapeutic areas. Based at Middlemore Hospital, we are seeking an experienced psychologist with extensive knowledge of psychological interventions and the application of these within an acute Inpatient setting.

Essential:

• Registered Psychologist in New Zealand or eligible to register in a Clinical Scope of Practice, with current APC
• Current full driver's licence
• Previous experience within a relevant Mental Health clinical setting, with 2 years postgraduate experience preferred
