We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Children’s Hospital, located in central Auckland.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
CVICU leads New Zealand in providing specialised nursing care based on clinical skills, research, education and innovation. We are a 26 bed adult ICU which is the National Centre for Heart and Lung transplant, Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implantations and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO). We provide unique learning opportunities that you can’t get anywhere else in New Zealand. This is a 24 hour service based at Auckland City Hospital, covering primarily elective and acute admissions and we provide our patients with intensive care for a range of cardiac, thoracic and vascular procedures.
In addition, we provide excellent professional development opportunities and on-going education along with the opportunity to apply for subsidised relevant postgraduate education. Being part of our team, we offer 12 hr shift rosters that give you better work life balance. Our comprehensive and robust orientation programme is built for supporting all new staff, with or without previous ICU experience. We provide a guided progression plan to senior leadership roles within our unit and throughout Te Toka Tumai Auckland. Our dynamic peer support team is made up of health professionals from all over the globe, helping you adjust to your new role as a nurse in New Zealand.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
To be considered for this position you must have:
- Registration or be eligible for registration with NZ Nursing Council
- Min 1- 2 years’ experience in an ICU/HDU, acute surgical, acute medical or cardiac area
- Ability to work alongside a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
