Be an integral part of an innovative service for the Hawkes Bay
The Community Mental Health Service (CMH) provides a range of mental health and addictions services for the Hawkes Bay region.
The Pregnancy and Parenting Service (PPS) Te Ara Manapou works with pregnant woman, their whānau and parents of children under three years of age who have alcohol and drug issues and are poorly connected to health and social services
Te Ara Manapou is a multi-disciplinary team working with a range of specialist services such as Mental Health, Lead Maternity Carers, Oranga Tamariki and Non-Government Organisations. We work from a client focused perspective to address identified needs with a view to improving outcomes for both parents and children.
As an important member of the team, you will bring your lived experience and understanding of recovering from addiction. This experience will provide insight and support to the team by providing an understanding of the client’s perspective in their care. While at the same time you seek an opportunity to work in a cohesive well supported team and grow through their experience.
The successful applicant will incorporate aspects of Tikanga Maori into work practices; create and sustain an environment that promotes bi-culturalism and responsiveness to Maori issues; establish an environment of respect and trust when working to advance cross cultural understanding.
Your unique insight and understanding of the client journey, and their lived experience will enable you to develop an empathetic, professional and supportive relationship with them
A sense of social justice and enjoying working with a vulnerable, challenging and complex client group is desirable. Excellent engagement and communication skills, a non-judgmental attitude and an ability to work autonomously within a team are vital.
Our District Health Board is large enough to provide variety and depth of work experience, with good support and supervision, yet small enough to be a friendly team with good social interaction. Hawke's Bay Hospital is a 400 bed hospital providing acute and elective care for the Hawke's Bay region. We have strengthening Primary and Community health services and an increasingly integrated approach to health and health care.
You won’t find this opportunity just anywhere, and when you combine this with the chance to live in New Zealand’s own piece of paradise, you have to ask yourself “why work anywhere else”? If you don’t live here already, then take a stroll through the Hawke’s Bay Tourism website and get yourself to Hawke’s Bay!
Hours worked between Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Flexible hours negotiable.
