Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

 

Our Visits and Events Logistics team are looking for an experienced Visit and Event Coordinator to join our team in Wellington. 

 

In this role you will be responsible for effective delivery of all logistical aspects of a portfolio of domestic events and visits for which the Ministry has responsibility.  This could include large/complex events hosted by New Zealand and ceremonial events such as Heads of Mission credential ceremonies.

 

You will work closely with Ministers' offices and DPMC, the Visits and Ceremonial Office, Government House, MFAT Divisions and staff across the Ministry as well as with an external events management service provider to undertake the programme of work.

 

The appointment range for this role is $68,449 to $80,528 including employer contribution to kiwisaver – negotiable depending on experience.

 

If successful you will need to be able to start in this role in June 2022.

 

Please note:

This is not a Foreign Policy/diplomatic role.  This is a ‘Corporate’ role (known here as a Specialist role) based in central Wellington, NZ.  

 

While it is not usual for specialist staff to be ‘posted’ outside of NZ, from time to time a specialist role overseas becomes available at one of our embassies, high commissions, missions or consulates. We would like to hear from you if you are experienced Visit and Event Coordinator with a background in Events and Logistics.  In particular we will be looking for you to demonstrate the following on your application:

 

  • Experience in New Zealand domestic visit and events
  • The skills and experience to hit the ground running in this role
  • The ability to multi task a busy New Zealand events portfolio
  • The ability to scale up your New Zealand experience to project manage a combination of New Zealand and off-shore events
  • Experience working with Airlines both domestically and internationally
  • Experience in delivering virtual international meetings
  • Knowledge of government and ceremonial protocols is advantageous
