Ko tā mātou mahi | Our Role
A newly created role, the Legal Counsel - Public Law is responsible for providing a high level of legal advice on a wide range of matters covered by the Public Law and Litigation team with a particular focus on public housing.
Reporting to the Associate General Counsel - Public Law and Litigation, the role will see you provide sound legal advice primarily in areas such as public housing and dispute resolution, public law, and regulatory matters. To be successful in this role you will be well versed at building strong and lasting stakeholder relationships and comfortable with providing relevant training and development to the wider legal team and stakeholders when required.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
- Law Degree required
- 2+ years PQE
- Current practicing certificate required
- Previous legal experience either in a law firm, and/or experience as an in-house counsel
- Knowledge/Experience in the following would be an advantage:
- Knowledge across relevant areas of public housing law (e.g. familiar with Residential Tenancies Act, Public and Community Housing Management Act, BORA, HRA)
- Familiar with legislation relevant to a Crown Entity (e.g. Crown Entities Act, Public Finance Act, Urban Development Act, Kāinga Ora Act, Public Works Act, Housing Act)
- Litigation/dispute resolution experience
