Mō mātou | About Us

As New Zealand's national statistics office, Tatauranga Aotearoa Stats NZ is uniquely positioned to support the decisions that the Government, Māori and Iwi organisations, businesses, NGO's and New Zealanders make every day. Our structure, culture and systems are designed with collaboration and customers in mind - mobilised and working together to realise our ambition: About Aotearoa, for Aotearoa - data that improves lives today and for generations to come.

The Census is the official count of people in New Zealand, and the places in which they live. Census information is used by central government, councils, community groups, iwi and business to plan directly and indirectly. The Census Insights unit produces meaningful stories from the data collected. The Needs and Analysis, and Analysis Operations teams, look after the content and customer information needs, assess and report on the quality of Census data, and the Products and Services team looks after the dissemination of the data and producing products and services that make the data accessible to users. Multiple roles are available across these three teams.

You will collaborate closely with other teams in the 2023 Census programme and elsewhere in Stats NZ in all of your work.
