Orderly Supervisor at Hawke's Bay District Health Board (Hastings/Napier), Hawkes Bay

Permanent – Full Time

80 hours per fortnight (1.FTE)

The Orderly Dayshift Supervisor provides guidance and oversees the day to day activities and services of the orderly department. They are responsible for dispatchment of jobs and workflow of staff in the department to ensure the delivery of efficient service and high-quality patient care.

The Orderly  Supervisor  is responsible for the administration and oversight of the day to day operations of transport service functions such as, but not limited to: attending to transport requests, safe execution of patient transport, infection control, equipment maintenance, sanitation, specimens and biomedical equipment.

Additionally, the Orderly Supervisor, is responsible for providing technical advice and expertise, guidance of the team to deliver effective, efficient and high-quality service that meets hospital needs.  The Orderly Supervisor position is to support and be an effective conduit to the Acting Security and Orderly Manager and Patient Support Unit Manager with regards to the progress, potential problems and Continuous Quality Improvement activities.

Pre-requisites

 Has completed a NEW ZEALAND CERTIFICATE IN HEALTH AND WELLBEING (LEVEL 3) ORDERLY SERVICES STRAND; OR is working towards this,

  • Should have at least five years of related work experience; with at least one year in an administrative capacity.
  • Possesses leadership qualities to aid in building, maintaining, and elevating relationships with internal and external stakeholders as well as the passion and drive for the achievement of business strategies and results. Qualities that would include, but are not limited to:
  • Integrity

  • Effective Communications
  • Interpersonal relationships
  • Persuasion
  • Adaptability
  • Teamwork
  • Delegation of tasks
  • Sound administrative principles
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledgeable in basic Microsoft Office and iPhone technology.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
