The General Counsel & Head of Legal is the key legal advisor to the ACC Board, Chief Executive, and our senior leaders. We are looking for a leader to guide informed decision-making on ACC's strategic, operational, compliance, investment, and commercial activities. Reporting to the newly created Deputy Chief Executive Corporate & Finance, the General Counsel & Head of Legal is responsible for leading and developing ACC's legal team to deliver strategic and operational advice across all aspects of the diverse work we do.

Ko wai koe | About you
We're looking for someone who can bring extensive senior legal experience to our mahi with experience advising in-house on legal issues that go to the heart of the governance and management of an organisation, including the provision of commercial legal advice. You will have worked with a large crown entity or public sector organisation, or a highly regulated large commercial entity. You will have in-depth knowledge of public law and an understanding of how to navigate the needs of both management and governance. You can demonstrate your leadership in applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi for the design of policies, systems, and processes.
In addition, we're looking for someone who has the following:
- A high level of integrity.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- An ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation and to be seen as an essential part of our decision-making processes.
- A collaborative approach and an affinity for working as part of a team.
- Self-motivation, innovation, pragmatism, and the ability to exercise excellent judgement.
- Experience in providing advice on complex, multi-faceted issues.
- A can do, solutions-based approach.
