We are seeking two dynamic and experienced Designers, to fulfil permanent roles in Visual Design and Spatial Design in Ara Manawa, Auckland DHB’s Design Lab.

Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
As a designer within Ara Manawa, your primary responsibilities will be to deliver key, future focused, innovation and design jobs within initiatives that deliver significant sustained benefit in organisation performance for Auckland DHB.
In this role you will contribute to design research, and innovation within Auckland Hospital. The role will maximise the value of design skills and outputs, ensuring that spaces, systems, and products are designed in a considered and sensitive manner, driven by patient, whānau, and staff needs. It will enable better experiences, improved clinical outcomes, and better work places for staff.
As a designer, the role may also coach, mentor and train workplace project teams in how best to apply design tools and techniques.

Nga Pūkenga Motuhake | Important Skills
To be successful in this role you will be / have / be able to: -
- well versed in Te Tiriti o Waitangi with a commitment to biculturalism
- knowledgeable of the health system context and committed to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori
- excellent design skills, you are energised by a challenge and accustomed to user-centric design methodologies
- creative and imaginative, with both an eye for detail and an ability to scale out and see the big picture
- excellent communication and relationship management skills, confident in engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders and bringing people alongside you on the design journey
- high emotional intelligence and compassion for others
- motivated and self-directed, as well as having excellent collaborative skills – online and in person
- manage and deliver a complex workload, with detailed action plans and documentation as a part of your process
- hold a qualification in design (visual/graphic or spatial), or equivalent relevant tertiary qualification
- five years’ experience working on design projects that creatively bring about improvement and change
