Service: Hospital Flow, Medical Assessment and Planning Unit (MAPU)
Contract: Permanent full/ part time
Salary: As per Meca or clinical experience
Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
The MAPU is a fast paced acute environment providing quality care for patients by streamlining the admission process, facilitating early assessments and reviews, expediting rapid and comprehensive multidisciplinary assessments and treatment planning.
All members of the MAPU nursing team are required to be registered with the New Zealand Nursing Council and maintain an annual practising certificate. The nursing team are required and supported to progress on the CCDHB Professional Development and Recognition Programme (PDRP).
As a Registered Nurse in MAPU you would have an orientation to the organisation, as well as an area specific orientation, and have access to a range of professional development opportunities.

There is a strong team focus in MAPU, and the Registered Nurses work together and closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a person/wānau centred approach. The benefits of a team nursing model are considerable, but include improved communication and coordination of care, enhanced support and teaching of clinical decision-making skills, increased patient care and satisfaction, and improved staff satisfaction and retention.
