Design Lead at Accident Compensation Corporation, Wellington

Exciting opportunity to use your design research and problem-solving skills to make a difference to the lives of New Zealanders

In this role you will lead a customer centred design of new and updated health services, turning insights into transformative service initiatives and develop, document, and implement a tailored design approach for the Health Agile Release Train.

Who are we looking for?

  • A natural collaborator with proven experience leading complex design initiatives, meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders within complex and politically driven organisations.
  • You take a whole-of-system, evidence-based approach to design, have an extensive design toolkit to pull from and can easily apply the best methods to solve the problem at hand.
  • You have experience in leading the design of customer centred services that meet the need of all New Zealanders with particular focus on Māori and Pacifika population needs.
  • You understand the complexities of national services and have proven experience in enabling equity of access to services/solutions.
  • You've introduced new ways of working / design framework to an organisation.
  • A confident communicator who can clearly articulate ideas and guide others through the design process - using communication techniques that meet the needs of your audience.
  • You build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and delivery partners - and can clearly articulate ideas and resolve issues efficiently.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • The ability to manage and influence stakeholder groups, and create a team culture which encourages curiosity, innovation and inclusive problem solving.
  • End to end service design and implementation experience, preferably (but not critical) in the health sector.
  • Experience designing contracts to enable client outcome delivery, taking into consideration the needs and drivers of contracted parties, clients, and operational requirements.
  • A thorough understanding of the New Zealand health system particularly challenges with service access and utilisation of limited health professional resources.
  • A thorough understanding of the New Zealand health system, specifically the health determinants and barriers people face when accessing health care in Aotearoa.

We offer a competitive salary $112k to S140k (dependant on experience) with a generous 9% superannuation contribution.
