We are seeking a non-training Registrar to join our progressive and multidisciplinary department at Waikato Hospital for a 6 month fixed term position starting 1 August 2022. Our broad focus on patient care, research and education offers an excellent career opportunity.
We are looking for a Registrar with interest in pursuing Radiation Oncology as a career. Waikato DHB provides the full spectrum of Radiation Oncology services. Our department runs on the Eclipse planning system and has four linear accelerators able to provide all aspects of modern radiation delivery including rotational IMRT and image guidance through cone beam CT. The department also has superficial kilovoltage equipment for the treatment of skin cancers.
We are the national leader in HDR brachytherapy treatment, with an active brachytherapy programme treating multiple different anatomic sites with an emphasis on cervical and prostate brachytherapy.
We routinely use stereotactic ablative radiation therapy for treatment of early lung cancer and lung metastases and also deliver linear accelerator based fractionated radiosurgery for the treatment of brain metastases. We are also the national provider of total skin electron therapy for skin lymphomas.
At Waikato Hospital you would join a team including ten radiation oncologists. As a Regional Cancer Centre we provide oncology services to a regional population of approximately 750,000 with radiation therapy treatment provided at Waikato Hospital and outpatient clinics in Hamilton and three secondary hospitals.
Waikato Hospital is a teaching hospital and one of five campuses of the University of Auckland Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
