Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist (Senior Medical Officer) with experience working in child and adolescent mental health.
This is a combined role, working within 2 teams - 0.7 FTE Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in Porirua and 0.3 FTE Child Health Consultation & Liaison.
The CAMHS teams provide specialist mental health services for children and adolescents between the ages of birth and 19 years (inclusive) with indicators of significant mental health problems, and consultation services for lead agencies working with children and youth with primary mental health disorders.
Child Health Consultation and Liaison Psychiatry provides assessment, diagnosis and advice on treatment to the Child Health Services of CCDHB with a particular focus on the inpatient (ward based) services at Wellington Regional Public Hospital. This role works in partnership with Child Health clinical staff.
Moū - About you
- Vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRANZCP or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Relevant child and adolescent training and experience
- Experience in working across the 0 - 18 year age range
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB-s and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region - greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual disability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
