Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic registered Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist (Senior Medical Officer) with experience working in child and adolescent mental health.
Infant, Child, Adolescent, and Family Service (ICAFS) uses Choice and Partnership Approach (CAPA) and we provide specialist assessment and treatment for 0 - 18 year olds and their families/ whānau. The role will entail providing assessment and interventions for individuals, whānau and groups to enable positive outcomes for children and young people presenting with moderate to severe mental health needs. ICAFS provides Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Family Therapy (with a screening team) and we are especially interested in clinicians with these skills.
The successful applicant will be expected to work collaboratively and supportively with other team members to ensure provision of appropriate and evidence based care. The person suitable for this role will also have excellent clinical and case management skills and be comfortable managing risk. The ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships within the team, service, the DHB, the wider mental health services, and community agencies is integral to this role.
Moū - About you
- Vocationally registered in Psychiatry with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
- FRANZCP or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- Relevant child and adolescent training and experience
- Experience in working across the 0 - 18 year age range
- Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- Relevant experience and training

The Mental Health, Addiction and Intellectual Disability Service (MHAIDS) spans three DHBs - Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast DHB-s and includes local, regional, and national services. The local MHAIDS services are provided from multiple sites within the 3DHB sub-region - greater Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa. Te Korowai Whariki services include regional forensic and rehabilitation services covering the Central region while the intellectual disability services extend the length and breadth of the country from six bases located in Whangarei, Auckland, Cambridge, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin.
