This is an exciting opportunity for the right applicant to work within the Māori Health Service to support Māori patients in the Intensive Mental Health Services within the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board in collaboration with the wider Kaitakawaenga team utilising Māori models of care in all interventions as well as providing cultural support.
The successful applicant will be able to support an effective continuum of care for those with moderate to severe mental health and addiction needs to develop and maintain good relationships and credibility and have the ability to identify the appropriate care needed.
The successful applicant will also be able to negotiate a robust set of agreed arrangements with whānau to enhance health literacy for them to better understand the illness / condition(s) / diagnosis of the tangata whaiora (client) as well as assisting the clinical staff to understand the clinical presentation of the tangata whaiora (client) from a cultural perspective and enable tangata whaiora (client) and their whānau to understand the clinical process / pathway.
Applicants will need to have a positive ‘can do’ attitude, be quality driven, flexible, self-sufficient and have a high level of initiative.
