Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon (Wairarapa) at Capital & Coast District Health Board (Wellington), Wairarapa

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Capital and Coast DHB is working in partnership with Wairarapa DHB to provide an Orthopaedic Service for their population. Positions will sit within the Wellington Orthopaedic Service and will be based full-time at Wairarapa Hospital. We have recently appointed an orthopaedic surgeon to this role and are now looking to expand the team with the appointment of a further orthopaedic surgeon. This role would be suitable for a Fellowship trained surgeon up to an experienced clinician.

Mō tō mātou rōpū - About our team

The Orthopaedic service at Wairarapa Hospital provides for the management of injuries and fractures and elective surgery provided on an outpatient, inpatient and day case basis. A regional tertiary service is provided at Wellington Hospital for patients with complex major trauma, revision joint replacement, spinal disorders, scoliosis, paediatric and hand surgery. The successful applicant for this position will work in close partnership with colleagues in Wellington Hospital. 

Moū - About you

  • Vocationally registered in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ)
  • FRACS or equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
  • If you are applying from overseas, you must meet the New Zealand Immigration Service requirements
  • Providing a high standard of clinical practice and expertise to the patients
  • Able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
  • A team player and clear communicator, willing to work with a multi-disciplinary health team within the Wairarapa district
  • The on-call requirement for this position will be based at Wairarapa Hospital.
