Now is a great opportunity for you to come and enjoy the kiwi lifestyle and hospitality. You will become part of a team providing a comprehensive service to a population of ~1.5 million people in the greater Auckland and Northland areas. Our team consists of 14 Physicists, 1 Physics Technician and 5 Medical Physics Registrars, providing physics support to a service which treats around 3500 adult and paediatric patients per year.

ADHB offers VMAT/SABR, HDR Brachytherapy, TBI and systemic radioiodine therapy to our patients. These are delivered using six linear accelerators (Varian and Elekta), C-RAD SGRT systems, Dual Energy CT, kV therapy unit, RaySearch Treatment Planning System, Mobius, SNC and Octavius QA platforms and a Flexitron HDR. Construction of a new brachytherapy suite will begin next year. We are also an accredited training centre with an excellent reputation for training medical physics registrars.

The Principal Physicist role holds the responsibility for dosimetry and quality assurance for the Radiation Therapy Service. The successful applicant will lead and manage our dosimetry/QA programme, including acceptance testing and commissioning of new equipment. You will initiate and collaborate on innovation and clinical development to ensure we are able to provide the highest quality treatment for our patients. The department is soon to replace two linear accelerators and the successful applicant will lead the implementation of this project.

The Medical Physicist role offers the opportunity to provide Physics support across the Radiation Therapy Service. This includes acceptance testing, commissioning and calibration of Radiation Therapy equipment, routine equipment QA, treatment planning support, patient specific QA, brachytherapy, use of unsealed sources and radiation safety. The successful applicant will also have a significant role in clinical development projects and in the implementation of new techniques and technologies in the service. Applications are welcome from newly qualified to experienced Physicists.

To be considered for the Principal Physicist role, you will be a qualified medical physicist (ACPSEM Certified ROMP or equivalent) ideally with 8+ years’ relevant experience post qualification. However applications from physicists with less experience will also be considered. For the Physicist role you will be a qualified Medical Physicist (ACPSEM Certified or equivalent).
