Salary:  $67,337 - $80,292, Salary step as per Allied Health MECA

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Are you a physiotherapist who is looking to take the next step in your clinical journey?  We have an exciting opportunity to join our Kenepuru Community team. The clinical aspect of this role would see you working out in the community alongside multidisciplinary team colleagues (including allied health assistants) with people who have a range of personal health conditions and disabilities including survivors of stroke, post traumatic injury, people at risk of falls, neurological conditions, mild to moderate dementias and amputees. The successful applicant for this role will also join our clinical triage team, to ensure that the patients- needs are identified, and that the referrals are assigned and received by the appropriate clinical team member safely.  Our dynamic triage team also works to provide quick response advice, delegation to assistants and telehealth treatment where appropriate.

The ORA Community Service is an interdisciplinary team of allied health, nursing and medical professionals working together with people aged 16 and above as outpatients or within their own home to achieve their goals.  We have a strong team culture here, working together with patients to achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Moū - About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist with at least 3 years post graduate experience to join us at the ORA Kenepuru Community Team at Capital & Coast District Health Board.  This permanent part-time position (0.8 FTE) is based in beautiful Porirua at Kenepuru Community Hospital.  There may be some flexibility with the FTE for this position so please apply and discuss this with us.

Your caseload would consist of adult clients with a range of conditions. This caseload involves working with clients who have been accepted by Ministry of Health as well as some ACC patients at times. Our successful candidate will be an NZ Registered Physiotherapist with a current APC, drivers licence and have experience in working with acquired health conditions.  You will have excellent communication and time-management skills, enjoy working within a team, and be able to develop positive relationships with a variety of hospital based and primary care professionals.  Experience with neurological rehabilitation would be an advantage and a passion to grow your skills in other areas including vestibular treatment can be supported.

Duties

  • Assessment, management and intervention of patients with neurological conditions.
  • Assessment, management and intervention of patients in the community with long term conditions
  • Assessment, management and intervention of patients following head injury or trauma
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to develop clinical services
  • Work within an interdisciplinary team to help patients achieve their goals.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in assessing and treating acquired neurological conditions
  • Current registration and Annual practicing certificate
  • A clear understanding of the health needs of our Māori and Pacific Island communities
  • Demonstrates ability to build rapport with patient and whānau from all background
  • NZ Driver-s License
