Graduate Advisor, International Engagement at Te Rākau Whakamarumaru | National Emergency Management Agency, Wellington

This is an opportunity to coordinate NEMA's international engagements; promote international cooperation and coordination; and enhance disaster readiness and response.  We coordinate and manage bilateral and multilateral relationships for NEMA within the international emergency management system.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provides national leadership to New Zealand's distributed emergency management system. NEMA's primary focus is on the performance and capability of the emergency management system as a whole, across all hazards and all risks and the 4 Rs of risk reduction, readiness, response and recovery. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role

In this role you will be a key member of the recently formed and growing International Engagement Team and you will support projects and programmes across multiple countries. You will support interagency and external collaboration including with the United Nations, other multilateral organisations and with partner countries.  You will also provide administrative and monitoring and reporting support to enable enhanced engagement with stakeholders and team productivity.

The International Engagement Team  is responsible for coordinating NEMA's international relationships and engagements; promoting international cooperation and coordination; enhancing disaster readiness and response; and tracking and reporting on NEMA's international activities.

We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes:

  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent written capability to present complex ideas in an easily understood format
  • International experience (desirable)

The salary band for this position is within $62,003 - $68,892 per annum including KiwiSaver employer contributions.

Whakaritenga Haumaru | Security Requirements

Due to the security requirements of this role, applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident.

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) and NEMA have adopted a Vaccination Policy which requires all candidates to have a COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate, otherwise known as a My Vaccine Pass (CVC) in order to commence employment.
