The Auckland Regional Dental Service (ARDS) provides oral health services to approximately 290,000 preschool and school-aged children, up to and including school year eight students living across metropolitan Auckland. The service is committed to improving oral health outcomes across the region.

Following challenges to service delivery during the Covid-19 pandemic, ARDS is moving into an exciting phase of developing and implementing strategies that address equity of access and outcomes. This includes promoting the delivery of a safe, effective and efficient service with the child and whānau at the centre. 

As Clinical Director, you would be responsible for leading clinical governance for the service, building national and regional relationships with key stakeholders and hold a clinical caseload.

We are seeking applications from dentists who:

  • Understand Te Tiriti and improving oral health outcome for Māori tamariki and other priority populations
  • Are passionate about driving innovative improvements in the model of care and service performance
  • Understand the benefits of empowering teams to achieve results.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced dentist with clinical experience within a public health setting understand population health principles and have proven leadership experience.

Candidates are required to be registered (or registerable) with the Dental Council of New Zealand, with a relevant post graduate qualification. If you are from overseas or outside Auckland, our candidate care team will help with the logistics of immigration and relocation, to make your move as smooth as possible.
